CHRISTMAS
Christmas is a day celebrated by Christians on the 25th of December. It is the most holy day on a Christian's Calendar. Christians celebrate it because it is the day Jesus was born.
Basics
Christians believe that Jesus was born on the 25th of December over 2000 years ago. They celebrate his birth because it was the start of his life and he went on the live an inspiring and miraculous life. He was born in a manger in Bethlehem. A star led some wise men and shepherds to his birthplace.
Meaning
Jesus is also God, part of the Holy Trinity. God had to send his only son to save the world. John 3:16, New International Version (NIV) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." He was sent to Earth to help people who had become sinful and evil. The only way he could save the human race was to sacrifice himself.
